The mine was operated since the 1990s, it was closed in 2003 and re-opened in the following year. The mining area occupies and open area of about 65,000 square meters, the mining camp is very well organized and equipped.
Rubies and blue sapphires, some of them of fine quality, are recovered from the alluvium, using the classic earth-stripping open-pit method.

The rubies are of verying qualities and mostly of small size. The largest gem-quality ruby was 60 carats.
