The mining area at Gurkha-konzan (Gurkha settlement) produces mostly blue sapphires. At the mining site various gems are recovered from the alluvium: blue star sapphires, star rubies, yellow and pink sapphires are found; most of these gems weigh under 2 carats and are of varying quality, larger sizes tend to be opaque and of cabochon grade.
