Nova Era, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Small pegmatite bodies, containing ordinary beryl, some aquamarine and tantalo-niobates, are located in and near the contacts of the schists with gneisses. The emerald deposits are also in the contact zone in the western and eastern parts of the block, where ultramafic biotite-phlogopite and actinolite (tremolite)-talc-chlorite rocks are found within the greenstone sequence.
