Pala Mining District, San Diego County, California, USA

Pala pegmatite field is characterised be the development of a graphic zone, a coarse-grained and blocky structure, and the presence of muscovite, beryl, schorl and almandine. Albitization is weak. Numerous pockets of smoky quartz, iridescent orthoclase, muscovite, and transparent light-green gem beryl were observed within several veins exposed in mine workings.
