The Eidsvoll granite pegmatites are on the south shore of Mjøsa Lake, 40 km northwest of Oslo. Fersman (1962) reported that
emeralds were found in pegmatite veins intruded into Silurian carbonaceous marls. Most emeralds were turbid because of numerous gas-liquid inclusions and were cut into cabochons.
