Kyatpyin Central, Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Region, Myanmar

Kyatpyin and its environs is the second largest mining area in the Mogok district and situated west of the Mogok valley.

Nearly all gem mining operations have taken place on the north side of Tonga road which links Mogok and Mandalay. Even though, over the years the valley floor has been mined several times and many mines closed, gems are still found. Most mining operations are concentrated at Inn-gaung-pyant and adjacent areas where rubies, sapphires, spinels, moonstones, zircons and other gems are mined from the alluvium. Sinkwa, Pos-kon, Wet-loo, Baw-lon-gyi are the newly rediscovered areas at the northern end of Kyatpyin valley where many rare gems re recovered from the skarns.
