Dattaw-taung (Dattaw hill), Mogok Valley, Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Region, Myanmar

The foothills of the general mining area at Dattaw are located about 3 km NE of downtown Mogôk in the direction of Mömeik. Dattaw is one of the most important areas in Mogôk where a multitude of gems and other minerals are found.

This area is characterized by alluvial, pegmatite, skarn, contact zone, and marble deposits, all integrated into one mass, resulting in a very complicated geology. The rocks of Dattaw are leucogranite, scapolite marble, ruby-bearing marble, diopside marble, apatite-phlogopite-diopside marble, pure marble, graphite marble, graphite-phlogopite marble, phlogopite-forsterite marble, and gneiss.
