Andravory Pegmatite field, Vohémar District, Sava, Madagascar

The pegmatite district extends from the village of Antsirabe Nord to the Andravory Massif, encompassing the region between the towns of Sambava and Vohemar. There are some large pegmatites of the Beryl-Columbite Subtype as well as a number of small dikes. Large masses of pink quartz, in some places with altered feldspar, form significant outcrops in the forest. Fine, blue beryl as well as large and well-formed crystals of Strüverite and monazite have recently been found in a pegmatite outcropping in the Andravory Massif.
