Moquegua, Peru

A bright blue mixture of azurite with gypsum was found together with malachite at the beginning of 2012 in the southern part of Moquegua department, close to the border with Tacna department. It forms veins up to 15 mm thick. Azurite properties: density 3.70 - 3.90, hardness 3.5 - 4.

Dark blue massive dumortierite occurs near Torata, about 20 km NE of Moquegua.
