Shon-ban-lay, Mogok Valley, Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Region, Myanmar

The mining area is situated just to the west of the Le-U-le-taw mines. The area produces rubies of all qualities, some of them characterized by distinct low saturation and they appear as pink sapphires. The stones are found in the alluvium, the majority weighing 5 carats or less. Most rubies found here are very brilliant and are noted for their fine luster and attractive appearance. Quartz, moonstone and tourmaline are also found. In 2003 the mines were closed.
