Kolum pegmatites, Nilaw-Kolum pegmatite field, Nuristan, Afghanistan

Miarolitic albite-microcline and microcline-albite pegmatites of the Kolum (Kulam) are of the great economic interest (Rossovsky, 1980).

Morganite occurs as a minor constituent with kunzite, tourmaline, clevelandite, quartz crystal, lepidolite, and pollucite. The semitransparent to transparent, cream to pink-coloured morganite crystals have equidimensional to tabular shapes and range in size from 1 x 1 cm to 5 x 10 cm.
