Cameo
A cameo is a carving into a multicoloured or multi-shaded material where the foreground of the carving is in one shade and the background another. It is most frequently associated with carved portraits.In a cameo, the carving is usually in raised, or positive relief. Carvings where the image is in negative relief are called intaglio.
